About The Artist "el Mafrex"
El Mafrex is a multi-talented award winning recording/performing artiste based in Jacksonville, Texas. He was nominated for Best Gospel Act consecutively at the 2012 and 2013 editions of the Music of Black Origin Awards. He won Artiste of the year and Urban Recording of the year at the 2012 Scottish New Music Awards, making him the first black man to win the SNMA.
His song, "Jehovah", which features Christian rock band Royal Foundlings had more than 500,000 hits in the first five months of its release on YouTube. He released "That Man from Galilee" in the first quarter of 2013, which debuted at no 49 on the iTunes UK Chart for Gospel and had over a million hits on YouTube in its first 6 months.
On 30 September 2012, he was featured in the Sunday Mail and on the 10th of July 2013 he was nominated for the Season 8 of The Future Awards Africa.He was a finalist on the 2011 “Gospel Rock” competition in London, where he was part of a team representing Scotland. It was a great time for el Mafrex because he had the opportunity of singing on stage with his boy hood hero Dr. Ron Kenoly. He has played gigs around the UK, has toured with popular Gospel Rock band “Royal Foundlings” and has played with Scottish Gospel crooner “Steph Macleod”.
In November he was interviewed about his music on the Scottish Television National news at 6pm, and was also featured on ATv news and many other TV stations including - One Gospel, Africa's biggest Gospel Music station. He’s devotion to charitable works saw him picked to headlined ALOUD FOR AUTISM, hosted by Autism Initiative Scotland.El Mafrex tries to pass a positive message via music and his dependence on God's grace is absolute. He has been a blessing to many lives and prays to conquer more grounds for Christ.
